Frequently Asked Questions

What is an elective prenatal ultrasound?

At magical images we offer elective 2D, 3D and 4D prenatal ultrasound session to provide positive bonding experience for the mother, father, family & friends that brings you closer to your unborn baby.

Does this take the place of an ultrasound at my doctor’s office?

Absolutely not! Moms seeking an elective prenatal ultrasound with magical images must be under a care of physician or midwife. Our services do not and should not replace any facet of your prenatal care. You should address all of your medical concern with your physician prior to having a session at magical images.

Is ultrasound safe?

This is probably the most important question to ask. Extensive studies over 35 years have found that ultrasound has not been shown to cause any harm to mother or baby. Routine ultrasound of all pregnancies is now normal throughout the United States. For more information please visit www.ob-ultrasound.net.

Do I need to make an appointment?

Yes, appointments are necessary for all of our services.

Will I always get beautiful pictures of my baby?

Usually, but not always. Every baby scans differently, depending on baby’s gestational age, position, amount of fluid and mother’s body habitus. We promise to make every effort to obtain the best possible images. However we make no promises that the images will be similar to those you might have seen elsewhere or even at our facility. Sometimes if the baby is persistently looking face down towards your spine it may be difficult to see the baby’s face. If this happens we will invite you back for a sneak peek at no additional cost.

Will you provide measurement of the baby or establish a due date?

We do not perform measurement, estimate baby’s weight or due date as this is considered part of the diagnostic exam, which you receive at your doctor’s office.

Who will be doing my ultrasound?

We employ only certified or registered sonographer to perform your elective ultrasound.

What form of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard or ATM card. We do not accept Medicare or other insurance although submitting your receipt to your insurance company may be worth inquiring.

What is the difference between 2D, 3D and 4D ultrasound?

2D technology is the black & white ultrasound as seen at your doctors office. 3D produce color still pictures and 4D in simple term is 3D ultrasound in live motion so, if your baby is smiling, yawning, sucking thumb or moving you can see this in color technology called 3D live or 4D.

Can I bring my family and friends?

Yes, in fact we encourage our clients to invite family & friends to join your 3D/4D ultrasound session. We can comfortably sit 6-8 guest and they can watch your baby on big screen.

Are you able to tell the gender of the baby?

Yes, in most cases we can determine fetal gender as early as 15 weeks. However we cannot guarantee that the baby will cooperate during session. Certain factors such as maternal body habitus & fetal position can affect the ability to determine the gender in that case we invite you back for sneak peek at no cost.

When is the best time for 3D/4D ultrasound?

If you plan on having only one 3D/4D ultrasound we would recommended having it performed around 22-34 weeks of pregnancy. However, we offer 3D/4D ultrasound session from 16 weeks to full term. Many mothers obtain more then one 3D/4D ultrasound and have images to enjoy from their second and third trimester.
